INVISALIGN: THEN & NOW:

What started as a novel but impractical idea: moving teeth using plastic retainers, has developed into one of the largest and most dynamic orthodontic businesses in the world: “Align Technology”.

More than a decade ago, a California college student majoring in computer science, discovered that, if his teeth relapsed because he failed to wear the clear plastic retainer his orthodontist had made for him, he could actually re-straighten his teeth if he began wearing his retainer again. This gave him the idea of combining modern computer technology with orthodontic science to potentially eliminate the need for braces to straighten teeth. Thus, “Invisalign” was born!

While Invisalign aligners or what some call “Invisalign Braces” initially had limited clinical application, [it could only straighten teeth that were mildly crowded], it has since become a common way for adults and teenagers alike to have their teeth straightened. Only severely crowded cases are not able to be straightened with Invisalign technology.

WHAT EXACTLY IS INVISALIGN?

Invisalign is a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that orthodontists use as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces.  Only dentists who meet the proficiency requirements established by Invisaling corporation are allowed to use Invisalign technology to straighten teeth.
